Machining Stainless Steel

This material can give you some trouble getting a decent surface finish, especially when facing off.
I've used these Iscar inserts: Roughing: WNMG 080408 VL Grade: IC907
Semi Finishing: TNMG 160404 TF Grade: IC907
Finishing: WNMG 06T304 SF Grade: IC530N
The SF chipformer of the finishing tool gives you a really good surface finish. I left about 0.07 mm(0.0028 inches) for the finishing cut.
